Laserfiche 7: Tip! Scanning in 7 is completely different than in prior versions. One of the more common problem users are having is scanning several pages only to find they end up with single page documents. In the scanning window, simply click on "Document Processing" in the top left pane and then on the right pain, unselect the check box next to "New Document every..." See below:
Issue! In Laserfiche 7, do not rename a template field name. There will be a hotfix available in the next few weeks to resolve this issue. KB Article: 1000883
Tip! The Laserfiche 6 client can be used to access a Laserfiche 7 repository. However, administrative tasks should not be performed from the Laserfiche 6 client. Administrative tasks include: reindexing the repository, modifying feature and access rights, creating/modifying templates, volumes, users, and groups. Performing any of these tasks from the Laserfiche 6 client may produce unexpected results. Additonally, you may not be able to perform certain actions even though it may seem like you have been granted sufficient permissions. This occurs because the Laserfiche 6 client is not totally aware of all the Laserfiche 7 security settings. KB Article: 1000697
Tip! Want to change the sample image use in Laserfiche 7 Scanning interface? Simply save a new 300dpi 8.5x11 TIFF image to C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Scanning\Sample.tif. An example that may be useful can be found here:
Laserfiche 6 Tip! Printing an image that has been rotated to landscape orientation (using the rotate feature) will produce a printed page containing the image in its original orientation. However, images that have been rotated 180 degrees will be printed using the specified rotation.
Tip! Creating a document by dragging pages out of an existing document now requires two additional access rights: Rename and Delete. The Rename access right is required for the folder where the document will be created. The Delete access right is required on the document from which pages are being moved.
Tip! Large images may take a long time to process through OCR. If such an image is encountered, it may not get OCRed. If you would like to OCR these types of images, then you can increase the amount of time (in seconds) that the OCR process will attempt to recognize the text on an image. This can be performed by modifying the PageTimeout line in the [OCR] section of the LF.INI. Increase the maximum amount of time for OCRing an image by following these steps: Find and open the LF.INI Under the [OCR] section, specify the maximum amount of time (in seconds) that an image can be processed by OCR under the PageTimeout line. This line should look like the following: PageTimeout=60 Save the LF.INI file. Open the desired database using the Laserfiche Client\Standalone. OCR the desired page.

Tip! A name search cannot be performed without wildcards for an item whose name contains a quotation mark. If you would like to search for such an item, then you should use a ? or an * in place of each quotation mark. For example, to search for a document called John "Bullet" Smith, you would search for the following: John ?Bullet? Smith.
